Ice Cream Sandwich Dessert
Chris Nielsen
This is an impressive dessert even I can make. Years ago a friend of mine asked me for a recipe to enter his ward men's cook off competition and I gave him this one. He was happy to report back to me that he won the dessert category - beating out much fancier and more difficult entries!
20 ice cream sandwiches
1 (11 3/4 oz.) jar hot fudge ice cream topping
1 (12 oz) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Unwrap ice cream sandwiches and place approximately half of them in bottom of 9 x 13 pan to cover. Spread half of hot fudge (not heated) on sandwiches. Spread thin layer of whipped topping on top of fudge. Repeat with ice cream sandwiches, fudge, and whipped topping. Leave plain or top with your choice of chocolate shavings, crushed mint candies, peanuts, mini choc. chips, sprinkles, etc. Cover and freeze for up to 2 months. Remove from freezer 20 minutes before serving. (Make sure you throw the ice cream wrappers away and clean up after yourself so your wife will be happy.)
