Caramel Rice Krispies

This recipe came from the one and only Jeanne Hall, formerly of the 9th ward, who I served with in Young Women. She is known for her cooking skills - we all loved to eat anything she made - including these Caramel Rice Krispies!

1 (14 oz.) bag of caramels, unwrapped
1 (14 oz.) can sweetened condensed milk
1 stick butter

Place in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 3 minutes. Stir until smooth, returning to microwave if not yet melted, set aside to cool.

1 1/2 sticks butter
8 cups miniature marshmallows plus an additional 2 cups for the middle
10 cups Rice Krispies

Melt butter and marshmallows until smooth (either in microwave or on the stove). Pour over cereal and mix until cereal is coated. Press half the cereal in the bottom of a 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle 2 cups of marshmallows on top and then carefully pour caramel over the marshmallows. Press the remaining cereal mixture on the top and let cool.
