Raisin Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies
Deanne Bennion
I got this recipe as a young bride from my mother-in-law, Flora Bennion. They are Steve's favorite cookie. It was originally handwritten on the back of an envelope and I used it that way for years and years.
1 cup shortening or butter
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
3 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cloves
2 cups applesauce
2 cups oatmeal
1 cup raisins
Cream together shortening, sugar and eggs. Add the remaining ingredients in the order listed. Place tablespoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
