Apricot Jam Cookies

In California I lived by the cannery and could buy jam by the case, so my daughter Patsy and I made these often. I learned to bake from my mother who baked cakes, pies, rolls etc. every day! Is it any wonder that my neighborhood friends all loved to stay for dinner?! 

1 cup Crisco
1 cup apricot jam
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup finely chopped nuts

Combine Crisco, apricot jam, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs and vanilla and beat well. Combine flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder and slowly add to creamed mixture. Add nuts and mix well. Drop by Tablespoons on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!
