Bobbi's Five Generation Fudge

Bobbi Snow

My mother did not like to cook - but she loved fudge!! Mary Lois Walker Morris from Leek, England, my 2nd grandmother, loved fudge too! Her simple recipe has been passed down (Karo syrup added) thru 5 generations! Every time I eat some fudge I think of these amazing women - one walked across the plains, one endured polygamy, one was an early widow and one sent her husband off to war. I am grateful for these mothers of faith and fudge!

4 cups sugar
1 cup milk
2 Tbsp. light corn syrup (Karo)
1 square butter (save 1/4 for the marble slab and hands)
2 squares unsweetened  bittersweet baking chocolate

Cook ingredients in a heavy pan (butter sides) at medium high for 15 minutes, stirring constantly. Cook until soft ball stage. Pour on buttered marble slab. Let cool to touch. Beat with wooden spoons til thick and satiny. Roll in long rolls. Cool and slice and eat!!! Delicious!!!  (It's fun to have kids help with this. When I was younger we would roll the fudge into "snakes" and "bite their heads off.")
