Becky's Breadsticks
Michelle Nielsen
My high school friend, Becky Doxey Schettler, came to visit me while I was living in Chicago. As a "thank you" for having her she made these for my family and gave me the recipe. I've been making them ever since. Now that's a gift that keeps on giving!
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp. yeast
2 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
3 1/2 cups flour
Soften yeast in warm water in stand mixer. Add sugar, salt, and 3 cups flour and mix together. Add 1/2 cup flour (or more as needed) until dough pulls away from the side of the bowl. Spread dough on a bar pan. Using a pizza cutter, cut in half short ways and then cut strips long ways to make bread stick shapes. Melt 1/3 stick butter and pour over dough. Sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese. (Also good sprinkled with Salad Supreme seasoning, sesame seeds, or garlic salt.) Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
