Joy’s Favorite “Lasagna” Noodle Bake
Louanne Ferrin and Chariton Davis
This recipe is from our cousin Joy who was a wonderful cook. Everything she made was simply delicious. This recipe is a happy blend of traditional lasagna with a definite stroganoff flavor. At our house, this noodle bake evokes both happy dining and wonderful family memories.
2 Tbsp. butter
1 lb. ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt
Dash pepper
1 tsp. sugar
1 (20 oz.) tomato sauce
8 oz. lasagna noodles (nine noodles)
6 green onions
6 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 cup sour cream
½ cup grated cheddar cheese
Melt butter in a large skillet. Add ground beef and brown. Add garlic, salt, pepper, sugar, and tomato sauce. Cover and cook slowly for 15-20 minutes. Cook noodles according to directions. Add a little oil to keep them from sticking. Mix cream cheese and sour cream. Chop green onions and add to cheese mixture.

In a 9 X 13 baking pan (sprayed with cooking spray), make the following layers: three noodles across the bottom of the pan, then 1/3 of the cheese mixture, then 1/3 of the meat mixture. Repeat these layers two more times. Sprinkle the top with the grated cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes until bubbly.
