Micah's Amazing Chocolate Chip Cookies
Micah Fredrick
This recipe is from my first cookbook, "Kids Cook" by Betty Crocker. I loved baking and cooking when I was younger and these cookies were my favorite thing to make.
1 egg
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips OR 1 cup candy-coated chocolate candies OR 1 cup toffee bits
Heat the oven to 375 degrees. Crack the egg on the side of the bowl, letting egg slip into the bowl. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and butter to egg. Stir with a wooden spoon until mixed.
Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to sugar mixture. Stir with spoon until mixed. Stir the chocolate chips (or candy-coated chocolate candies or toffee bits) into the dough. Drop 12 rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto cookie sheet (you do not need to grease the cookie sheet.)
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are light brown. You will need to do this 1 more time to use up all the dough. Use pot holders to take the cookie sheets out of oven. Cool cookies on cookie sheets for 1 minute. Take cookies off cookie sheets, using a pancake turner, and put them on wire cooling racks to finish cooling.
