Sugar Cookies
Nicole Farrell
My sister, Debbie Torgersen, who is a great cook, shared this recipe with me. My kids like to help me make these cookies. We especially love them at Christmastime because they puff up nice and soft, stay soft, and they are perfect cookies for decorating.
2 cups sugar
2/3 cup margarine
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup sour cream
Cream sugar, margarine, eggs and vanilla. Add sour cream, baking soda, baking powder, salt and flour. Chill for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Flour counter top well and work in a little extra flour before you roll out. Roll to 1/4 inch thick. Use cutters of choice and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Don't over bake!
Frosting:
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar
Milk
Cream margarine and shortening. Add the vanilla and sugar. Add milk by Tablespoons until desired consistency is reached.
