Best Caramels Ever

We make these caramels every Christmas - they last about a week, then we have to make another batch and sometimes a third. They just seem to disappear!
1 qt. corn syrup
4 cups sugar
2 sticks butter
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 pt. whipping cream
2 tsp. vanilla
Bring corn syrup and sugar to a boil. Add butter, milk and whipping cream. Cook to 234 degrees (hard ball stage). Take off heat and add vanilla. Pour onto a buttered cookie sheet. Cut in squares when cooled.
