Swedish Almond Bars

This is my go-to holiday dessert - very few ingredients but tastes amazing. You can roll out marzipan green leaves and pink berries for a little holly in the middle, wrap them up in cellophane and put  on your favorite person’s porch. 

2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 cup butter or margarine (best with 1/2 cup of each), softened
4 eggs
2 tsp. almond extract
Sliced almonds

Place flour, sugar, butter, eggs, and almond extract in the bowl of mixer and combine just until mixed. Spread in 12-inch greased pan or two 8-inch pie tins. Sprinkle top with sliced almonds. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool, cut in 1-inch wedges and serve.
